soul-runner asked: It's the bottom of it & not the achilles, & a little lower like the back of the heel. I'm striking around the ball of my foot & don't bring my heels down. But about a week ago I started getting really bad pain there. When I strike on my toes pain shoots through my heel. It's so odd. I tried looking things up & I think I might have Bursitis but I'm not sure. & How's recovery going from your race? & How sore are you haha >:)
Well for one, you should definitely be bringing your heels down when forefoot striking. You should be landing so that your heel is just above the ground when you toe strike, then gravity should gently bring your heel down to the ground, and then you lift the whole foot off the ground without pushing off.
Second off, ouch! Check this out: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001073.htm
I never got anything like that. Do you think you could have done too much too soon? And I was really sore yesterday and earlier today, but now I’m much better. I went for a short run and climbed. I think I’ll be good as new in 2 days.

if she never brings her heel down then her calf muscles are in a tight, shortened position the whole time she is running, which can pull the achilles tendon and peroneal tendons to cause plantar fasciitis. Not sure but it’s a possibility
